Programs developed through online platforms are effective in treatment and prevention, of a range of mental health disorders as well as being acceptable and effective in the child and adolescent populations.
Aim: To develop two emotional technology programs to improve Fortalezas Interiores-FORTIN (Inner Strengths), and Mejora de la Autoregulaciónen Menores-MAM@ (Emotional Self-regulation in Children).
Method: FORTIN is a virtual reality program game based learning and the resolution of dilemmas. For MAM@, the emotional recognition and regulation component of the treatment protocol of the Assesment, Diagnosis and Intervention Program for Children in Care has been adapted to an online format.
Both focus on vulnerable children and adolescents with mental health problems.
Results: Data are presented from the evaluation of the application of both programs.
Discussion: Mental health improvement programs have proliferated in the international arena, however, their development has been less so in Spain, and therefore more research is required in this area.
Conclusions: These programs encourage motivation and adherence to treatment due to the recreational component which they offer. This promotes mental health in vulnerable children and aids in reducing psychosocial inequalities.
